Introduction
We all love soup! But one soup sticks out and it's everyone's favorite. Campbells Soup! Its founder Joseph A. Campbell is a very good role model and his game changer in the product had made a big impact on everyone. He is most famous for his invention of the Campbell Soup Company, which changed the way Americans eat. Joseph's innovative products and marketing strategies set him apart from other food industry leaders and made the Campbell Soup Company the most successful multinational food company in the world. His legacy continues to be remembered today, with his products still being enjoyed by people all over the world. As Joseph made his game changer product there were a lot of obstacles and he and part of his co-workers helped solve all his. As Joseph Campbellś Company capt on producing more soup and developing new recipes, his game changer product has inspired many and helped feed others.
Early Life
Joseph's early life is not discussed, and much is known about him. Joseph A. Campbell was born on May 15 of 1817, in the small but pretty city of Bridgeton, New Jersey. He was the son of James Campbell and Hannah Campbell. Joseph was one of eight kids that his parents had. His siblings are Charles, James Campbell Jr., John, Hannah, Ebenezer Davis, Mary Sharp Campbell Clark, and Benjamin Franklin Campbell. In January 1839, Joseph got married to Abigail Powell Moore, But she passed away in 1852. He remarried his cousin Adeline Ogden. Together they had one son Charles Frederic Campbell, his son was born in April 1856 but passed away in his childhood. After Joseph’s son passed away one month later on May 17 of 1856 his wife Adeline passed away. Two years after that he remarried for the third time and the last one, to Sarah Boyd Foster. Together they had one son And three daughters. Joseph's Education is unknown. But schools in 1800 consisted of a single room and one teacher that was first geared to the eighth grade. So it must have been like that if he attended school even if he did or did not.
Beginning Career
In 1869, Joseph Campbell, a wholesale fruit and vegetable vendor, and Abraham Anderson, a commercial canner and packer, formed the firm of Anderson & Campbell in Camden, New Jersey. This would one day become Campbell Soup Company (Campbell's history). When they opened the company it was first named “Anderson & Campbell Preserve Company”. At that time the two canned vegetables, minced meat, jams and jellies, and a variety of soups. But in 1877 Campbell bought Anderson out, and renamed the business to “Joseph Campbell & Company”. Adding to that Spademan one of Campbell's personal friends, Arthur Dorrance, Walter S. Spackman, Campbell’s nephew, and Joseph S. Campbell replaced Anderson. Leading to some years later in 1892, Campbell renamed the company to the “Joseph A. Campbell Preserve Company.” The company produced canned tomatoes, condiments, jellies, mincemeat, and vegetables(Cook’s Info.). The first jar of ready-to-eat soup, Beefsteak Tomato, was introduced in 1895. In 1897 Dr. John T. Dorrance, Arthur’s nephew, invented the process of condensing soup. And leading to smaller packaging like Cans (Campbell History).
Accomplishments
Joseph has had many accomplishments and has inspired many young people and adults to take the initiative to start their own companies. One of his greatest achievements that he had the most in his life is creating his famous Beefsteak tomato soup. In 1891 one of Joseph's best sellers was Beefsteak Ketchup. It was more like a sauce (Cooks Info.). In 1895, Joseph and the company began selling Beefsteak tomato soup, not the condensed tomato kind that they later sell. Campbell made the very wise decision to reorganize the company and turned it into "Joseph Campbell & Co." in 1896. In 1897 they invented a new way of packaging those who took a better image and chose to put the products in cans(Campbells History). “In 1898, the first red and white soup label debuted after a company executive attended the annual Cornell-Penn football game and was impressed with Cornell's new pristine red and white uniforms” (Campbells History). 1899 John Dorase takes a tentative risk and places the first advertisement on New York City Street cars. That made sales increase. And in 1900 the company won a bronze medal for how good the product was. This took place at a Paris Exposition (Campbell's Story)
Impact On The World
Joseph a. Campbell left an impact on the world and his business capt on being successful. In 1904 an artist named Grace Wiederseim Drayton, an illustrator and writer, created, “gave birth” to the Campbell kids an illustration. The Campbell kids were made as street advertisements. These sketches had The kids do different roles. Such as farmers, army doctors during World War 1, and athletes training for the Winter Olympics (cooks Info./ Campbell's History). As Campbell's success grew in 1915 the company bought the Franco-American Food Company. “We acquired a Franco-American Food company, founded in 1886 and makers of condensed soup and canned pasta. This is our first acquisition”(Campbells History). With the passage of time, the Campbell company focused more on the making of soup and they wanted to reflect this more, so in the year 1922, they took the word Soup as their second name. Becoming the Campbell Soup Company (Campbell's History). As Joseph's legacy and the company business continued\ on growing more people started to like and buy their soup, Other people like Andy Warhol got inspired. In the year of 1962, Andy Warhol got the inspiration from Campbell's products. He painted the famous Campbell's Tomato Soup(Campbell's History).
Conclusion
Joseph A. Campbell is considered a game changer in the world of business. He put his entire life’s work into making sure that businesses are able to succeed and reach maximum potential. He created innovative strategies that have been used by many companies around the world to help them reach success. Joseph Campbell is also a great role model and I can use him as motivation that I can accomplish great things like him. Joseph is a good person to look up to; he never gave up and on his business. His shows this with a mission to provide nutritious, delicious soups that customers would enjoy. With a commitment to quality, the company created recipes that became staples of American culture, such as Cream of Mushroom and Tomato Soup. Over the years, the Campbell Soup Company has added new flavors and varieties of soups
