7th grade was a crazy year, we were learning online for the first semester, I think, and then they started letting students go to school in person but they had to wear a mask. I stayed online because I didn’t want to get sick, and also because I didn’t have to wake up extra early to go in person. I loved to learn online, until one semester I got behind in most of my classes. My grades dropped, and I was getting stressed because I had so much work to do and so little time to do it. I could barely even hang out with my family. But one day my mom decided to let me go to school in person, I was so happy because at home many distractions wouldn’t let me concentrate on school work. On the first day, I went to school in person I saw that how everything worked before we had to wear masks was nothing like how it works now. Everyone wears masks and we all have to be distanced in the classrooms even though it is becoming hard to be socially distanced the teachers still try their best to keep us at least a couple of feet away from each other. Three of the classes that changed the most were encounters, band, and PE/Athletics. In encounters, we usually do a project to go with our essay, but this year we weren’t able to make one because we couldn’t all use the same materials. In band class, we normally have concerts and get to go to UIL. Well, this year we couldn’t do any of that because of Covid, we also have to wear face masks while we play our instruments. And the last class that changed is PE. In PE we normally have to change into different clothing while we were in that class, this year we didn’t get to do that because of the same reason as the rest. Another thing that changed in the whole school was that we weren’t able to go on field trips. When we had to take the STAAR Test we had to take it on the computer. The day we were supposed to take the writing STAAR the website wasnt working so we had to cancel the test and took it a couple of days later. Although this year was different than the rest we still got through it and hopefully next year it will all go back to normal.
