My name is Maria Hernandez, and I am an 8th grader at Cunningham Middle School. I love reading mystery and adventure books because they keep me curious and challenge me to think ahead about what might happen next. Reading inspires me to write my own short stories and poems, which is something I enjoy sharing with close friends and family. I also enjoy helping my younger siblings with their homework, because I like supporting them and watching them grow. One of the things that makes me unique is that I am bilingual in English and Spanish, which helps me connect to more people and understand my culture in a deeper way. History is my favorite subject in school because I enjoy learning about different cultures, important events, and how the past connects to the present. Outside of school, I enjoy baking with my mom, especially when we try new recipes, and it always brings our family closer together. I believe that my love for learning, creativity, and leadership qualities make me who I am today.

After middle school, I plan to attend high school and join student council to grow as a leader and make a positive impact on my school. I want to participate in clubs like yearbook, debate, or drama because I enjoy speaking in front of others and expressing myself creatively. My dream is to attend college and become a teacher, because I want to inspire students the way my teachers have inspired me. I believe education is one of the most powerful ways to change the world, and I want to be part of that change. I also want to continue writing poetry and short stories, and someday I hope to publish a book that motivates other young people. Traveling is another goal of mine—I would love to visit different countries and learn about their traditions, cultures, and ways of life. I want to bring those experiences back to my classroom to share with my future students. In the future, I see myself not only as a teacher but also as a mentor who helps students believe in themselves and reach their goals.
