The Gracious Things in Life
I am from a dresser that holds clothes from birth all the way to now.
From a private daycare and a warm house in the afternoon.
I am from a family who gives their best everyday.
And from praying to God whenever you feel or think negatively.
I am from a hydrangea bush that’s in a flower garden.
Whose bright colors and petals that bring peace in the air around.
I am from piano classes on Thursday evenings.
And jamming to K-pop and instrumental pop covers.
I am from Melissa and Sonja.
And from the curry chicken that mom makes and the Shrimp Chips for an afternoon snack.
I am from those moments when the waves are calm and there's a beautiful sunset over the water.
7th Grade Gratitude
My experience as a 7th grader this year was a rollercoaster of emotions and experiences. I met people who helped me in school, achieved my top goals, had fun with my friends/classmates on trips or activities, and improved my character.
Education this year was challenging but fun at the same time. In total, I have done over 250 assignments that improved my understanding of subjects. My love for math has grown a lot this year because of the advanced level I was learning at. Science was one of the classes I looked forward to every week because the assignments were mostly creative and interesting. Social studies were surprisingly easy because it was mostly notes and didn’t have difficult tasks. ELAR was the class that gave essays every week, but improved the way I wrote and read. Encounters also improved this but were more enjoyable. The research paper and art car that I completed was the most exciting part of that class. Elective wise, choir, band, and Spanish have been another reason why school was challenging. In choir, I had to sing high school level songs and sight-reading pieces that were difficult to achieve but were easy at the end. Band taught me to be more confident in my playing and to keep on going whenever I make mistakes. Finally, my last class was Spanish. Spanish was the most confusing and intense class out of this year, but during the semesters I got the hang of it and started to understand some of it without help. Now at the end of the year, I realized that I've come a long way and picked up valuable lessons that I can use and reflect off later throughout my school life.
Beside school being the place for learning, it’s also become a way to interact with people. I've met awesome friends and teachers that I admire and look up to. My friends or besties were the people who I could talk to about anything. They understand me and would literally go to the ends of the earth for me. I made so many memories with them and I cherish them every day. The times I spent with my teachers were valuable because not only were they just my teachers, but they were also like a second family to me. I have a great relationship with them and I'm very grateful for all they've done.
Lastly, my experience outside of school has been busy or mainly occupied. In the mornings before school starts, I go to band to practice or help Mrs. B with anything she needs help with. After school, I either stay after school to work on projects or go home to do more homework. I'm in a few clubs that have after/before school meetings (ex. Student Council, Girl's Club, and UIL). Also, I have piano lessons every Thursday that are hard to balance with my schoolwork. Overall, I think that outside of school is more stressful than being in school.
This year taught me a lot of things. To never give up, be positive, and to always try your best. Without this year, the second year in middle school, I don't think I'll be able to accomplish any of my achievements I worked hard for. Being in 7th grade has been truly amazing!
