Prof. Mariano Andrés Arbelo

About me:

Currently working as Assistant Professor at the Aeronautics Institute of Technology (ITA) since 2018. Previously worked as research associate in EFRE project at the Private Fachhochschule Göttingen - PFH - Germany.

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics from Aeronautics Institute of Technology – ITA, Brazil.
  • MSc in Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics from Aeronautics Institute of Technology – ITA, Brazil.
  • Aeronautical Engineer from Universidad Nacional de La Plata - UNLP - Argentina.

Experience:

  • Experience with project development of aeronautical and space structures made of composite materials, preparation and execution of experimental tests for aeronautical certification.
  • Deep knowledge about experimental techniques for calculating stresses and deformations in structures subjected to different loading states. Development of newly methods based on Vibration Correlation Technique to estimate the buckling load of unstiffened cylindrical shells.
  • Extensive experience with finite element models considering nonlinear effects, dynamic or static loads cases and damage on aeronautical structures.
  • Some works currently developed using composite materials are: Impact studies, fatigue and fracture tests, buckling and post buckling analysis considering failure and delamination of composite laminates, among others.
