The information on this page is to help Explorer families plan for learning while home. Teachers at each grade level 3-5 have collaborated to offer all students at a grade level the same opportunities.
Time Allocation:
Expect learning opportunities to take 60-120 minutes/day.
Teachers will post math and language arts lessons to Google Classroom along with ARC lessons. Lesson instruction is not expected to be longer than 15-20 minutes (part of the 60-120 minutes/day). An instructional lesson may then be followed by assignments to be completed independently or with the help of a parent/guardian. Lessons may include new material or review previously taught material.
ARC lessons may also be 15-20 minutes/day (Part of the 60-120 minutes/day).
Mrs. Fuller, Mr. Plaxton, Mrs. Carr, Senora Hartges, Mrs. Herek and Mr. Ferguson are all available during their office hours for questions or learning advice.
Learning Schedule:
Students will not “attend” class at a specific time; rather, students will work with their household schedules to find the best time to engage with their teacher’s Google Classroom.
Teachers may add optional lessons for science, social studies, social/emotional learning, etc.
There will not be “real time” instruction. If direct contact with the teacher is needed:
Teachers will host one virtual class meeting (ie - Zoom, Google Meet, etc.) per week for the purpose of building relationships with and among students as well as tend to questions about learning tasks.
Teachers will be available during their posted office hours found here. Office hour communication may be via phone, email, or other online platforms.
Classwork assignments/assessments:
Teachers will use students’ classwork submission as a way of determining student participation rates
Classwork will not be graded
There will be no penalty for students who do not turn in assignments or turn them in late
To the extent possible, teachers will strive for equity in the academic offerings of engaging learning activities for students working online and those who are unable to access the online learning opportunities.
