Remote learning will begin on Monday, April 20 and will continue until the end of the school year (June 5)
The following weekly lesson planners are a tool that you and your family can use to help guide learning while at home. Some of these lessons will have videos available on Seesaw or an activity for your child to complete. There are lessons that will be easier than others and some that may require parental assistance.
In this remote learning structure, daily learning will not be equivalent to a six-hour day. Based on best-practice recommendations for remote learning, teachers will plan for the duration of student engagement to fall within a specific range for their grade level:
Students in Grades Y5-K should be engaged in approximately 30 to 60 minutes of work per day.
Students in Grades 1-2 should be engaged in approximately 45-90 minutes of work per day.
Academic Lessons
Lessons and activities will be posted on Seesaw by your child’s classroom teacher. These lessons may include videos and/or activities that are essential skills in first grade. There may also be a review of material, which is good practice of valuable skills.
Related Arts Lessons
Lessons and activities will be posted on Seesaw. Students are encouraged to take pictures or videos during a related art activity and post it to Seesaw. Mrs. Fuller, Mr. Plaxton, Mrs. Carr, Senora Hartges, Mrs. Herek and Mr. Ferguson are all available during their office hours for questions or learning advice.
Planning and instruction will include one ELA or Math lesson per day
Teachers will post a 5-10 minute instructional video per academic lesson
Students will not “attend” class at a specific time; rather, these are the days when teachers will post instruction, work to be completed, assessments, etc.
“Class sessions” will be a combination of instruction and independent work time. This work will be completed asynchronously, without real-time interaction.
Teachers will host one virtual class meeting (ie - Zoom, Google Meet, etc.) per week for the purpose of building relationships with and among students.
One additional lesson per day may be added, which may include science, social studies, SEL, etc.
One ARC offering per day will be provided by ARC staff for teachers to post with their other opportunities
Classwork assignments/assessments will be due as assigned by the teacher.
Teachers will use students’ classwork submission as a way of determining student participation rates
Classwork will not be graded
There will be no penalty for students who do not turn in assignments or turn them in late
Teachers will hold consistent office hours (60 minutes) five times a week for the purpose of supporting students and families in their learning.
Office Hours are determined by each individual teacher and communicated to families
Office Hour communication may be via telephone, email, text message, or other online connection platform
To the extent possible, teachers will strive for equity in the academic offerings of engaging learning activities for students working online and those who are unable to access the online learning opportunities
