Ways to Incorporate Math

Here are some easy ways to incorporate math throughout the day:

  • Count everything! (blocks, cereal, books, words in books, etc.)

  • Cook or Bake with an adult

  • Go on a shape hunt (shapes are all around us!)

  • Play store

  • Play card or board games (go fish... great for number recognition!)

  • Measure and Record (How far can you jump, etc.)

  • Build towers

  • Make patterns (Use anything! I even had a kiddo make a pattern with his hands and feet!)

  • Sort toys by color, shape, size

  • Draw numbers or shapes and have the kiddos jump from number to number or shape to shape (Hopscotch, works also)

  • Take surveys (Do you like chocolate or vanilla ice cream?, They could call up friends or relatives and get their opinions)
