Kindergarten Readiness

Social & Emotional Skills:

• Complete's 2 step directions

• Sits and listens to a story for 5-10 minutes

• Takes turns and knows basic problem solving skills

• Complete short tasks without an adult's help

• Plays well with others

• Follows basic rules

• Able to identify their emotions

Academic Skills:

• Know at least 18 uppercase letters & 15 lowercase letters and letter sounds

• Sing or say the A,B,C's

• Count to 20, recognize numbers 0-10

• Know how to use books and parts of the book (front cover, this is where we start reading, etc.)

• Is able to recognize and write their name

• Identify basic shapes and colors

• Sorts objects by color, shape, size

• Make simple patterns

• Able to tell you that two words rhyme and produce a rhyme (can be a nonsense word)
