As mentioned in other posts, it can be difficult to know if your child's behaviors and skills are typical for their age. We often naturally compare our child to another, whether it be their sibling, a cousin or a neighbor's child. These comparisons are not an accurate depiction of where your child should be, since no child's development looks the same. Contacting your child's pediatrician should be your first stop, if you believe that your child may be falling behind developmentally. Your pediatrician knows your child's prior history and can paint a better picture of what your child's development should look like.
