The Travel for Credit Program is part of the summer school offerings in partnership with EduTravel. It provides students the unique opportunity to achieve elective and compulsory credits, while experiencing the rich cultural heritage of various world-class destinations. The program is very beneficial as a reach-ahead option, as well as engaging all types of learners in its experiential education-learning model.

AFS offers a variety of programs for students. They can attend a local secondary school in another country as a full-time student during an academic year, semester or trimester. Cultural immersion, language study, volunteer opportunities, and single topic courses (such as investigating environmental issues or studying new technology) are short-term opportunities lasting several weeks up to three months.

YMCA Youth Exchanges Canada Program
Through YMCA Youth Exchanges, explore another region of Canada, meet new people, learn Canada's official languages, and immerse yourself in the country's cultural diversity. The YMCA, with the support of Canadian Heritage, offers two exchange programs:
Group Exchange: Youth Exchanges Canada
YMCA Youth Exchanges Canada (YEC) is a group exchange program that helps adult leaders organize exchanges across Canada for their groups of youth ages 12 to 17.
Participants travel to and discover a new part of Canada, engage in various hands-on learning experiences, and make new friends.
Groups are matched with another group from a different province or territory. They travel to each other's communities, taking turns hosting one another and experiencing all aspects of the exchange program.
Individual Exchange: Summer Work Student Exchange
YMCA Summer Work Student Exchange (SWSE) is a six-week program that offers youth ages 16–17 the opportunity to gain paid work experience, practice their second official language, and discover another community in Canada.
