In the summer of 2020, we engaged a team of Secondary Science teachers develop to diagnostic assessment tools to support their colleagues upon return-to-school in the fall. The collaboration amongst educators from a variety of secondary schools was both enjoyable for the writers, and effective to gain a variety of perspectives and strategies.
We had an additional team work to spiral the grade 9 and 10 Science curriculum in an 'Ideally at school' and 'Potentially at home' hybrid model. Resources for each grade were completed for the first cycle providing teachers with resources for the first 6-7 typical weeks. These resources were not designed in a quadmester format, therefore pacing will need to be adjusted by the user.

Part of this support should include assessments to identify students’ strengths and gaps in learning at key instructional times to ensure students have fundamental building blocks in advance of new content. The primary purpose of instruction and assessment is to raise the skill level of all learners in their achievement of overall curriculum expectations across all subjects, courses, and grades.
