Our Philosophy
Secondary School drama is based on the idea that through collaboration in drama and theatre students can get to know themselves and the world around them in a new way. Introductory courses teach students to express themselves and their ideas through drama. As they work through the program, students continue their journey of self discovery by engaging with the art of theatre, the school community and the community at large. It is my hope that students develop self awareness, acceptance of themselves and others, develop confidence, and become people who contribute creatively and meaningfully to communities of which they become a part.
The best part is: it's FUN. The creative process is based on exploration, play, and positive relationships. Students make great friends in drama, friends who they can be themselves with. For students who are interested in taking their skills and experiences in theatre to the next level, SDCI produces short plays, full-length shows, and full-scale musicals. As an SDCI student you're invited to audition for on-stage roles and volunteer to work in the many off-stage roles that are needed to bring it all together. Be part of a school show and create memories that last a lifetime!
