The Specialist High Skills Major is a Ministry-approved specialized program which allows students to focus their learning in the Arts & Culture sector while meeting the requirements of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).
It assists in their transition from secondary school to apprenticeship training, college, university or the workplace. It allows students to experience a range of customized learning opportunities to explore, identify, and refine career goals and make informed decisions related to to post-secondary education or training.
Through an SHSM, students begin to establish relationships and build networks in Arts & Culture. Students will receive a unique designation on their OSSD which is recognized province wide.
You must be a Saunders student in grade 10 or grade 11 to be eligible
Check that you are registered for the required courses. A chart called "What Course Do I Need To Take?" is posted below.
JUNE - Select SHSM in myBlueprint when you register for courses in February. A counsellor will contact you to ensure you have selected the correct courses
October - Fall SHSM Application
Mrs. Bonvanie or Ms. Franklin will contact you in September with information about the program
