- Cell Phones MUST BE TURNED OFF before entering the classroom.
- Hats must be removed before entering the classroom.
- For safety reasons, food, drinks, and book bags are not permitted in the classroom.
- Make sure that you have been to the washroom and/or had a drink before the class begins. Breaks will only be given under emergency circumstances.
- Get extra help from the teacher when you have difficulty. Do not wait until you are hopelessly lost. The best time for extra help is in the mornings or during lunch time or by mutual arrangement.
- Problems sets, lab reports and homework can lend themselves to collaborative efforts. REMEMBER: Helpful suggestions and/or explanations from friends are acceptable; plagiarism is not!
- Have excellent attendance, listen carefully, participate freely, and work diligently. If you do not put a significant effort into assigned work (especially homework), you will in all likelihood fail to achieve your credit,
- Studying requires writing and problem solving; NOT JUST READING!!
It is your responsibility to successfully acquire a credit for this course. The textbook and teacher will act as guides, but extra reading and studying may be necessary. Some class time will be allocated to projects and research but the majority of the work will have to be done on your own time. Homework is assigned on a nightly basis and testing is done periodically. Consult your Student Handbook for the school's policies on Examinations and Evaluation.
- If you know beforehand that you are going to be absent from class, ask the teacher for the assigned material and homework so that it can be completed when you return. If your absence will result in you missing a test or assignment due date alternate arrangements must be made at this time.
- If you are ill the day of the test/quiz, a parent must call the office first thing in the morning and leave a message on the attendance line 1-844-305-3756 OR use SchoolMessenger (App Store) / SchoolMessenger (Google Play).
- If you miss a test due to an unexpected absence, you will be expected to write the test your first day back .
- If you miss a class, for whatever reason (illness, field trip, sports, ...); it is your responsibility to have the work completed when you return, if possible. Copy any missed material from a friend and see the teacher before class if you don't understand any part of the work. Do not try to catch up missed work during class.
- Regular attendance is an integral part of the educational experience. Students are to consult their Student Handbook for an explanation of the Policy on Attendance to ensure that the attendance requirements of the course are met.
Follow all late procedures outlined in the student handbook. Homework quizzes are at the beginning of the period. If you are late you will not be allocated extra time. Late comers will make up extra time after class. TIME WILL BE MADE UP ON YOUR OWN TIME (before school/break/lunch/after school)
