This section of our website is designed to provide some information about using your SEA equipment and troubleshooting simple problems that may come up while working at home.
IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW that while these devices are assigned to a specific student they are set up to be effective in the school environment. Therefore when using them at home they will not work like a privately owned device. You will not be able to install personal printers, apps or devices ( don't try please). Attempting to do so may affect your equipment settings adversely. You should primarily be using your device to access google classroom and the internet sites as directed by your teachers.
Although there can be equipment malfunctions by following the tips and advice below you should be able to handle most technical issues, and prevent equipment malfunctions.
As always please email your LST if you need further support.
IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING TECHNICAL TROUBLE ...TAKE A DEEP BREATH. MOST PROBLEMS CAN BE SOLVED BY TURNING THE DEVICE COMPLETELY OFF AND ON AGAIN. Problems with external mice and headphones can occur when these devices are not plugged into usb ports, or turned on from the boot of the device ( when the computer is turned on).
HEADPHONES- please see above. Headphones and microphones are provided to facilitate efficient use in the classroom environment. Most equipment has internal microphones and speakers, this is an external or peripheral that your student may not need in the quieter home environment.
KEEP YOUR DEVICE HEALTHY : plug your device into a power bar for charging, keep track of charging cords, mice and headsets, and keep your device in a secure location. You are responsible for you device while it is with you.
DO NOT attempt to INSTALL apps, graphic software for gaming, printers and personal scanners. This can result in altering settings on your device that will prevent it from working.
DO keep Maraki open on iPads . This may allow board technicians to access your iPad and perform maintenance remotely .
AGAIN the purpose of this device being sent home is for class work . Please follow the policies of safe and responsible student use.
PRINTING :
Students will be submitting most of their work on google classroom sites. They should have very little need to print. However if you wish to print , files may be downloaded to memory sticks , or uploaded to family internet storage drives, or emailed off devices for printing.
