What is Co-op?
Co-op is where students go to work for their morning or afternoon classes in a field/career they are interested in gaining experience in.
Our Co-op department offers both 2 credit and 4 credit co-op programs.
It can assist with admission into a variety post-secondary pathways such as university, college, or apprenticeships.
Your co-op teacher will work with you on finding a placement that is in line with what you are interested in.
Disclaimer: while we always try to get you a placement in your first choice, there are no guarantees so you should have at least 2 choices/options for your placements.
Goals of Cooperative Education:
All students can benefit from participating in cooperative education. In their experiences in cooperative education, students will develop:
• a reflective habit of mind to derive meaning from their experiences
• the ability to apply (e.g., transfer) their learning to influence decisions and actions in various aspects of their lives
• the skills, knowledge, and habits of mind required to become competent and confident education and career/life planners
