We are so happy to share this exciting and important year with you and your child. September can be a very tiring month. By working together to create healthy routines, we can get the year off to a super start and feel settled as soon as possible.
Your child will write in their planner each day. Please read and sign the planner every evening and send it back to school the following day. If you have any questions, concerns, or joys you would like to share with us, please make a note in the planner – it’s our easiest way to communicate – and we will try our best to get back to you the same day.
Be sure your child has a pair of well-fitting indoor running shoes for gym that can be left at school each day. Sport sandals, Crocs or Mary Janes are not sufficient for Phys Ed classes. Try to label all your child’s belongings.
Please send a labelled filled water bottle with your child each day. The students do have access to the water fountains this year, but water bottles are still recommended.
All snacks and lunches should be nut free. We will continue with a Balanced Day timetable this year. The children eat in their classrooms from 10:40 - 11:00 a.m. and again from 1:20 - 1:45 p.m. Both of these Nutrition Breaks are followed by 20 and 25 minutes of outside recess.
Please be sure to update your child’s personal information via the Parent Portal as soon as possible. Most importantly, please monitor your child's health each day and do not send them to school if they are feeling unwell.
The children enter the school through the south east or classroom doors (off the courtyard). The door will be locked as soon as the children enter. If you are late, please go to the front door of the school and ring the bell. Parents are not allowed to enter the school. The school day ends at 3:30 p.m. Your child will be dismissed into the courtyard area.
Being on time for school Is very important. Please be on time, in the line at the back of the school, at 9:00 a.m. There is a significant disruption to the class routine when students are late. We thank you, in advance, for being on time each day.
Each week on Sunday, we will send a message about events and information for the coming week. This message will be shared with you via School Messenger. There are no paper calendars or newsletters. School Messenger will be our primary means of communication with families.
The Ministry of Education has adopted a No Cell Phone Policy. Please do not send cell phones or Smart Watches to school with your child.
Sincerely, Your Grade One and One/Two Team,
Mrs. Davidson, Mrs. Baldinelli, Mrs. Masciotra, and Ms. Raulic,
Language: We read and write EVERY day in grades one and two. We will begin with shared and independent reading strategies, phonics skills, and journal entries.
