Dear Students and Parents/Guardians;
Hello and welcome to Ms. Barber’s Grade 4A class in room 129. This is going to be an exciting year! Grade four is FULL of wonderfulness!
Here is a quick run-down of things I’ve been asked about in the past.
Students should have their own pencil case to hold their own:
- pencils, erasers, pencil crayons, glue sticks, dry erase markers. Non-bleed-through markers are also acceptable (like crayola).
- a red pen is useful but not necessary. All other pens are NOT needed.
- a pencil sharpener that holds its own shavings is very helpful.
OTHER INFORMATION:
- notebooks, duo-tangs, paper... are all supplied. -Binders are NOT required and do NOT fit in our teeny tiny desks. (If you want to encourage binder organization at home, please do so. For example, when completed units are sent home, they could be organized into binders.) It is expected that students keep all of their items organized, intact, and available here for their use. If items (example pencil crayons) are taken home, it is expected that they will return the next day.
- Indoor/Outdoor shoes will be required. Please ensure proper indoor footwear for both gym and QDPA. QDPA is an important part of our every day! Gym attire is not specifically required but clothes you can move/bend/jump/kick… in help!
- agendas are an important part of learning transferable lifetime organizational skills and are used on a frequent basis in the classroom. Students are expected to both use and keep care of their agendas. This is a great place to write notes to me as well - please let students know when they have a note to show me. A supplemental donation will be requested soon - see school cash online.
DEVICES: there will be a few Chromebooks for the class to share. Some families choose to send in a Chromebook for a student’s personal use. IF this applies to your family (you have a Chromebook at home that you want your child to bring to and from school and use in class - now or later in the year), please fill in the PED - Personal Electronic Device form.
*Please bring your OWN headphones or earbuds (there are a few to share if needed).
-PARENT PAPERWORK - also online, please complete ASAP.
- NUTRITION BREAKS - We have two nutrition breaks where healthy foods are encouraged. Students should avoid sharing food. Due to bee allergies and garbage issues, food is NOT permitted on the yards. We DO have a nut allergy in our class (and a few in the school). Please do NOT send foods with nuts/peanuts. Please avoid sending in ‘treats to share’ unless it’s been pre-approved.
- Refillable water bottles are RECOMMENDED and may be kept at desks as long as they are not disruptive to learning. They may be filled during nutrition breaks.
- If YOUR CHILD has allergies or other health concerns, make sure we know about them IMMEDIATELY.
- If you have curriculum questions please visit: http://www.edu.gov.on.ca/eng/curriculum/elementary/
ATTENDANCE - if you are sick or plan to be away, please input this into attendance.
