Writing a News Report/Story

• Create rough notes before you start writing the news report (briefly answer the ‘5 Ws’ and ‘How’).
• Make sure that the report is about the headline and photo provided.
• Indent each paragraph.
• Include a quotation from someone involved in the event.
• Write in the past tense.

Do the news report first so that when you’re finished the test, you can go back and re-read it and make any changes as necessary.
