What permissions do I have to give the Classroom access to?
In order to access the classroom successfully, it is important to consider the following points:
Have your Google Chrome browser updated to the latest version.
Make sure you have a connection of at least 10MBps.
Chrome permissions: Verify that you have permissions enabled for camera use in the browser.
Do I have to download/install any software to use GoClass?
No, you do not need to download/install anything to use GoClass! However, it is important that you are using an updated browser (Google Chrome strongly recommended).
How do I connect my microphone / camera / speaker?
GoClass will select a microphone / camera / speaker by default, you you have the option to change the configuration from the "Settings" section (top left of the classroom) and choose other available devices.
I have another webcam. How can I change the one selected by GoClass?
You can make this change before accessing GoClass by selecting the devices you want. You can also do it once you start the GoClass session from the “Settings” section (top left of your window).
Can I connect two monitors and two webcams at the same time?
Yes, you can connect two monitors when you are taking part in the lesson! Two webcams are unfortunately not possible right now - we are working on it!
Can I connect to GoClass with multiple devices?
Of course! In the whiteboard section of the virtual classroom, you will find a button that allows you to connect a tablet within the platform. This way, you can communicate with your tutor on your PC/laptop and use the whiteboard on your tablet!
In general however, we recommend the use of a computer for the best learning experience at all times.
How do I launch the new classroom?
It's super easy! Simply join via the GoStudent WebApp and click 'Start Session' next to the corresponding lesson. You will automatically be lead to GoClass instead of Zoom.
Once I am inside the classroom, what should I do?
It is important that you grant browser access to your camera and microphone. Otherwise, you will not be able to communicate with your tutor!
What happens if I don't have time to finish the class?
You can end the class by clicking on the “End class” button that will appear during the last 15 minutes of the session. In any case, classes are automatically closed after 8 hours, but if you prefer to do it earlier, you can ask our support team.
Why can't I finish the class?
To finish a class, it is important that both tutor and student are connected inside the GoClass platform. With that in place, you only have to click on the “End class” button.
If you have not been able to finish before the student disconnects from the classroom, please contact CS to fix manually.
How long is the session?
As before, the session lasts for 50 minutes. Your tutor may however log in slightly earlier to prepare for the class and upload any necessary materials.
When does the timer start?
As soon as the student joins the session, the timer will start running. Be aware that you must stay in the session until your tutor has ended the session.
Will my session be recorded?
At the moment, GoClass does not support the recording of sessions. You can however use a Google Chrome extension for this. Your tutor may also be able to do this for you. We are working on this function and it will be launched soon, so stay tuned!
How does the chat work?
In order to use the chat tool, click on the message bubble button at the bottom right of the screen. When you want to close the chat, click the same button again.
How can I use the Whiteboard?
You have two options:
Click on the purple "Create, upload or open a resource" button at the bottom of the page and select "Whiteboard".
Open a new tab in the Classroom by clicking on the "+" (just underneath 'Classroom') and choose "Create new document" and then "Whiteboard". Inside, you will be able to create shapes, draw with the freehand tool, write & attach images to draw on top and also create & attach formulas with the new formula tool.
Can I enlarge the Whiteboard?
Yes. At the bottom left there is a “+” and “-” symbol with which you can enlarge the area or make it smaller.
You also have the option to adjust its size by pressing the “CTRL” + “Scroll” key.
What types of documents can GoClass support?
The virtual classroom supports Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Audio (Mp3), AudioOgg, AudioWav, AudioWebm, Pdf, Jpg and Png.
How can I share documents?
To share or upload a document, click on the purple button with the "+" symbol. If you hover your mouse over the button, you will see "create, upload or open a resource". You can find this button at the bottom right of the screen or by clicking on the "+" that appears in the Classroom tabs.
Can I upload a PDF?
Yes! Click on the purple "Create, upload or open a resource" button at the bottom right of the screen, and select the "Upload existing resource" tab. You can also upload a PDF by opening a new tab in the Classroom by clicking on the "+" (just underneath 'Classroom').
Can I share YouTube videos?
Yes, of course! Click on the purple “Create, upload or open a resource” button at the bottom right of the screen and select “Create new resource” followed by “Share Youtube link.”
You can also share a video by opening a new tab in the classroom by clicking on the “+”.
How can I share my screen?
At the bottom left of the screen you will find the “Share Screen” button.
What happens to the documents shared and uploaded during the class? Are they available to view afterwards?
All documents uploaded in the class are saved and are available inside of the classroom - they are saved automatically.
Both you and the tutor will be able to access these documents at any time by:
Click on the session link inside the WebApp (in which you covered the material that you want to review)
Re-enter the class
You will find the information saved inside of the classroom
Can I download shared documents?
Yes, of course! Click on the “Create, upload or open a resource” button and then open the “Created resources” tab. Once you find the file you want to download, click on the “down arrow” icon.
Can I delete the documents I have created?
Yes. To do so, click on the purple “Create, upload or open a resource” button and open the “Created resources” tab. Once you find the file you want to delete, click on the bin icon.
Inside the classroom
