Registration & Eligibility

Does my child have to participate in the 2020-2021 enhanced online learning option the entire school year, or is there a part-time option?

The following commitment levels must be adhered to when enrolling in this learning option:

  • Elementary student (grades K-6): Once enrolled, the student must participate for one full trimester.

  • Secondary student (grades 7-12): Once enrolled, the student must participate for one full semester.

Is there a registration deadline?

We are asking families who wish to have their child begin the 2020-2021 school year in the enhanced online learning option to register by August 10. After this date, registration is still open, but students may have to begin the year by attending their originally scheduled, in-person classes until they receive their online learning schedule.

Can a child transfer mid-year from the 2020-2021 enhanced online learning option or a private or charter school?

Yes, but the following commitment levels must be adhered to when enrolling in this learning option:

  • Elementary student (grades K-6): Once enrolled, the student must participate for one full trimester.

  • Secondary student (grades 7-12): Once enrolled, the student must participate for one full semester.

What happens if a large number of students decide to transfer back into the building all at once? Can GMSD accommodate that?

All courses are taught by GMSD teachers and class sizes are limited to the in-person class size numbers. At the end of a trimester for elementary students or semester for secondary students, a student may transfer back into the building. If a large number of students were to transfer back into the building, the district would adjust teacher schedules as necessary to accommodate them to the greatest extent possible.

Are all students eligible for the 2020-2021 enhanced online learning option?

The GMSD Enhanced Online Learning Option is open for enrollment to all students who reside in the Governor Mifflin School District and are in enrolled grades K-12 in the 2020-2021 school year.
