Session/Classroom Placement

Each Partner in the Gorham Public Pre-K program provides a unique opportunity and experience for their students. Each Partner has a separate set of guidelines to establish session/classroom placement within their individual programs.

Gorham School Department Pre-K at Narragansett Elementary School has AM and PM sessions. Information gathered during screening aids in session/classroom placement. Families will be able to select their program preference.

While every effort is made to place students in their first-choice session, placement is subject to availability, program capacity, and program-specific needs. No guarantees can be made regarding first-choice placement.

Session Placement Process:

• Screening Data Review: All screening materials and data are carefully reviewed to help create balanced classroom environments. Screening data includes academic, developmental, and socio-economic factors that assist in placing children in the most appropriate environment.

• Session Choice Assignment: Families will have the opportunity to select their session preference (AM or PM). To the best of the program’s ability, applicants will be assigned to sessions based on their first-choice preference. While every effort is made to honor these preferences, placement is subject to availability and capacity limits.
