James

Favorite color: purple, and a color that changes when you see it ... ask James

Did you know he was in a rock band when he was in 5th grade?

Favorite phrase: What does love look like in this moment?

Some say he's a cross between a peaceful redwood tree, an adventurous mountain goat and a thoughtful, fun-loving lobster. Grew up in another valley not far from the SGV, went to thinking school (a degree in philosophy if you must know), lived in Spain for a year, then Nicaragua for five, passed by Mexico where he found Aura and learned not to think so much, and now here. James believes there is always a way to be kind and truthful at the same time, and that all seriousness should be balanced by silliness and vice-versa. He's great at making up games and crafts, leading birthday parties and camps, and designing woodworking projects. Sometimes he subs for Aura teaching Spanish at the Lagunitas school, has been a drummer, songwriter, seismic retrofitter, camp director, origami-er, digital storyteller, dancer, writer, halloween costume inventor, teacher, coach, and is a proud and happy husband and father!

Aura

Favorite color: purple

Did you know Aura was 5 years old in second grade?

Favorite phrase: Always be yourself unless you can be a unicorn, then be a unicorn.

A fun human, maybe a lost forest fairy that went dancing from Mexico to London then to Italy, back to Mexico and now here with her cat. From the city to the forest, it has been a path of discovery, like finding a purple cauliflower. Aura was a Montessori experiment that turned out quite well, went to art and dancing school (yes there is such a thing) where besides learning how to jump and turn, she learned how to make dance videos, teach dance, and other fun stuff. She is passionate about creativity, outside-of-the-box solutions and making dreams happen. Aura believes that everyone can dance and we are all artists. She has been a Montessori aide, Spanish teacher, dancer, circus performer, cat lover, librarian, a daughter, partner, book-eater, nature admirer, writer, art manager, transformational life coach, bookseller, and mother!
