 Thank you for being the best part of Goochland Day!  We are so happy you’ve decided to join and support the Foundations efforts to host Goochland Day on Saturday, May 18, 2024 • Parade 10AM • Festival 11AM to 3PM. 

 Friday, May 17, 2024 – you may bring items Friday however everything left is “leave at your own risk”.  We will be having the Friday night concert and there may be traffic/parking in your area.

 Saturday, May 18, 2024 6:30am – 9:20am – DROP AND PARK à drop off and immediately park will alleviate most congestion à  all vendors parked by 9:30am à No Vehicle entry after 9:30am  

·        9:30AM: Vehicles/trailers MUST be parked in their designated spots by 9:30am Saturday morning

o   see attached Goochland Day Vendor Parking Assignments.  

o   Festival starts at 11am. 

o   We mandate 9:30am as the parade will be closing the roads. 

·        3PM: No Vendor Vehicles are allowed to leave the premises before 3PM. A person is free to leave as needed, however will have to carry your wares with you to your parked vehicle. If you need flexibility to leave, please park outside of the festival area.    

·        Golf Carts will be present to transport vendors from their cars back to their spot, as available.

 What To Bring: Please plan accordingly and note the following:

• maintain patience with our volunteers

• bring pop up tent(s) with canopy as it can get hot or rainy -- pray no rain!

• bring tent weights (in case of wind)

• bring tables and chairs

• bring manpower if you need the assistance

• bring an activity to draw people in! NO FOOD, besides our approved food vendors! <- We cannot express this enough.  

 Smoking Policy:

Goochland Day Foundation has a limited partnership with the County and operates under a Memorandum of Understanding to use their facilities. As such, the Foundation follows County guidelines for general rules and standards. Smoking is generally prohibited, but when allowed, smoking activities must be confined to designated spaces and may not include any activities which may disturb any person.  The Foundation will have a designated smoking section to the right of the main stage area on NAPA Field.  We reserve the right to revoke attendance if this becomes an issue.  If you prefer more privacy, you may go to your car.   

We want to remind everyone that Goochland Day is neither managed nor organized by the County/County employees. The Foundation is a volunteer led initiative with great working relationships with all entities: the county, sponsors, vendors, and parade applicants alike so that Goochland Day can take place and remain free to our neighbors.  We have taken special consideration of all requests with location, services, electrical needs, spacing, and intertwined vendors appropriately. 

PARADE

The Parade starts at Parrish Ford, River Road West, at 10 AM and travels all the way to the Goochland Elementary School ending at 11 AM.  This allows the kids to get off the floats and safely head to the festival with their guardians.

PARADE ROAD CLOSURE

River Road West will be closed during this time starting from approximately the intersection at Maidens Road to the intersection of Route 6 and Bulldog Way. The road closures are managed by GCSO and will be as short as possible.

FESTIVAL & MAP

The Festival opens 11 AM – 3 PM.  *There could be foot traffic and interest before as people attend the parade coming from all directions.

Again, we gained VDOT permission to close the Farmers Market section of 522 so that attendees can move between the festival footprint of the Farmers Market, Goochland Sports Complex, and Goochland Elementary School Track.  We chose the Farmers Market because of it’s a natural segway from the parade and has limited but optional electricity, a paved lower lot (flat surface), and the track of the Goochland Elementary School as it leads back to GHS where attendees can catch the shuttle bus.  This footprint allows for closer vendor parking, easier multipoint entrance and exiting, avoids all sprinklers, and accessibility is equitable for everyone.  We hope you think so too!   The spots will be marked on Friday and volunteers will be onsite to help find the space Saturday Morning. 

ORIENTATION

I understand this is a lot of information however if you find that you have questions, we invite you to come to one of two Goochland Day Orientations scheduled Monday, May 6th and May 13th at the Goochland Library from 6:30- 7:45 PM.  We highly recommend that you come to one of the informational nights so you can get a feel for the layout of your area for your planning purposes including arrival and parking.  Attached are calendar appointments for orientation should you choose to attend.

VENDOR SETUP & PARKING

Since we will be hosting Goochland Night, a Friday night fundraiser concert, Foundation volunteers will be onsite Friday setting up however ask that you hold your items until Saturday. Some vendors have been provided special permission to be onsite overnight prepping for the day’s meals.

Saturday, May 18th, Foundation volunteers will be onsite before sunrise so feel free to come as early as you like.  See picture attached for where you will need to park your vehicles and trailers.

• Vehicles/trailers MUST be parked in their designated spots before 9:30am Saturday morning. You may continue setting until 11am until the festival starts.  We mandate 9:30am as the parade will be closing the roads. 

• In special cases, if you require an ADA spot, please park in the reserved handicap parking located at the Administration buildings. 

• You are permitted one (1) vendor parking spot, per tent. Other vehicles will need to park at GHS.

• Parks and Rec advises all 10x10 tents will need to be staked or anchored by sand bags or water jugs in some way.  

• Note of any road closures as the 522/Fairground roundabout may affect your travel and Route 6 will be closed at 10am.

• You can set up early and try to attend the parade - liability and choice is yours; as creators of this Festival, we want to be in all places at the same time so we understand this difficult decision. 

• GSCO will be onsite and vendors and food trucks are strictly prohibited from leaving the Festival before 3pm.  

FOOD VENDORS

Virginia Department of Health, VDH, will be onsite inspecting any food vendors where appropriate. 

Cottage Law Vendors: are not, currently, able to sell to the public at our events as they require additional agriculture permits when preparing food from home.  We apologize for inconvenience however are happy to announce that the laws are changing and these vendors should be able to sell next year – 2025.  Please let us know if this rule applies to you regarding what you plan to sell.
