Proposition B Total - $35,000,000
GMS originally was constructed for as an elementary campus in 1966. Currently, the campus and portable building across the street houses approximately 330 grade 6th - 8th students.
Since construction, the campus has had several renovations over the years to maximize space and accommodate older students.
According to the facility assessment committee, the campus currently does not have functioning science labs, ADA compliant bathrooms, double doored safety entrances, or a functioning cafeteria. Meal service is provided through daily meal delivery from the Goliad Elementary Campus.
Proposition B would provide for new construction of middle school campus and demolition of the current main building. The new campus would be located across from GHS on district owned land. The proposed new campus would support 21st century learning with media library stations, maker spaces, technology and science labs, special education life skills unit, and middle school athletics facility. Funding would also be used for energy efficient lighting, fixtures, and windows. Safety and double entry access points will be included in the Prop B package.
