Osteoarthritis is a leading cause of pain and disability and a major reason for lost independence and early retirement. While the main recommendation for knee OA is exercise, a central barrier to exercise is that it hurts. We are currently recruiting Veterans and Non-Veterans with chronic knee pain for a study to examine whether visual feedback treatment can help reduce pain during exercise .
This study tests an innovative technology called MeR-Ex, which aims to use visual feedback to change how your brain feels about pain. In this study, individuals with chronic knee pain attend 8 sessions where they watch educational videos, experience the MeR technology, and spend some time using a stationary bicycle. We understand that it can be tough to stay active when you're in pain, especially for those with knee osteoarthritis. That's where MeR-Ex comes in, and we're really excited to see how it can help! Participants receive up to $150 for their time.
