MORE Additional Learning Opportunities

Opportunities 1-4 are only available in the classroom.

1. Vocab In Action - When Mrs. Lane hears or reads a FABULOUS word in students' speaking or writing, she will add his/her name to the Vocab In Action board and give the student 1 extra credit point.

2. Helping Verbs - Students may memorize 23 helping verbs and then recite the verbs to Mrs. Lane for 3 extra credit points. Students may only recite the verbs ONE time each week for the 3 extra credit points.

3. Books We Love - After reading a book independently, student may complete a "Book Spine Review" for our "shelf" bulletin board. Mrs. Lane will give students up to 2 extra credit points for each book spine they complete (1 point for average reviews, 2 points for outstanding reviews.)

4. Figurative Language Hunt - As students are reading independently, Mrs. Lane would LOVE if they were on the lookout for great examples of figurative language. When students find these examples, they may write the example and the book title on a sticky note and add it to the correct poster on the Figurative Language board in the classroom. Mrs. Lane will give up to 3 extra credit points for each correct example placed on the board.

5. Additional Book of the Quarter - After submitting the assigned Book of the Quarter project in any given quarter, students may turn in additional BOQ projects for UP TO 15 extra credit points each.
