About Me ..... Welcome to my website. My name is Melissa Rindt. I teach 7th grade Science at Goddard Middle School. I have been teaching for 26 years and 22 of them have been at Goddard. I attended and graduated from Maize High School. After High School I went to the University of Kansas, GO HAWKS!!!!!! I received my Bachelor's Degree from KU in Middle and Secondary Science and Social Studies Education.
My husband Derek and I have been married for 26 years and we have 2 children. Tara is 22 and has a Film Production degree from the University of Missouri and recently got married to my favorite son-in-law Gage. Caleb is 18 and is in 12th grade here at GHS. Besides raising our two children we also live on a farm. We have three pets. Our pets are a border collie named Sparkle, a German Shepard-Corgie mix named Sunny, and a black cat named Shiloh and an orange tabby named Ezra. I love to be busy and this group definitely takes care of my free time.
I try to include my family in most of my hobbies. My favorite hobby is traveling. My husband and I have officially been to all 50 states and Washington D.C. Eight years ago we took an amazing trip and traveled to Alaska! We rode the train through the center of Alaska and saw Mt. Denali, (The highest mountain in North America.) and so many great animals. I can’t wait to share the pictures with my students in class. There are pictures from our trips on my photo page if you want to take a look. Alaska was beautiful but my favorite place to travel is still Glacier park in Montana. Hopefully one of these summers soon we will get to go back. My children participate in the National Park Systems program called Jr. Rangers. If you haven't heard about it you should check it out. It is a lot of fun when you are visiting the National Parks and kids get to earn badges. My kids have a lot of them. Tara and Caleb have been to 49 states. We were planning on going to Hawaii but our trip was canceled. Hopefully sometime soon we will be able to go to Hawaii. Then the kids will be able to say they visited all 50 states. We can't wait to go on our next vacation. When we are not traveling I like to spend time scrapbooking, sewing, gardening, working on my genealogy, and reading.
