Meet the Teacher

Hello! My name is Shakela Primrose, and I am so excited to be working with you this year! This is my first year as a teacher. I was a virtual teacher for the first 9 weeks and am now face-to-face teaching. I was born and raised in Valdosta and graduated from Valdosta State University with my bachelor's in Early Childhood and Special Education and an ESOL endorsement as well as a bachelor's and master's in Speech-Language Pathology.

My philosophy on teaching is that every student is capable of learning, and it is my job to reach them where they are and take them where they need to be. I also believe that parental involvement is a key factor in student success and plan to work with you to make sure your child is on the right track! I plan to foster a positive and encouraging classroom environment where students will not only learn academics but also how to have a growth mindset, encourage others, communicate effectively and respectfully, work collaboratively, and other social skills.

Some fun facts about me are that I am an only child; I grew up a Viking (but am proud to now call myself a Wildcat!); I've taught Children's Church for 2 years now; I've done gymnastics, cheered, and played the clarinet in marching band; and my first time on a plane was when I studied abroad in Italy!

If you have any questions, please contact me using any of the resources listed here. No matter what this school year brings, I can't wait to grow with all of you!
