Teacher Incentive Allotment Designation Components
The Texas Teacher Evaluation & Support System (T-TESS) is the state adopted teacher appraisal instrument. T-TESS includes two components aimed at capturing the holistic nature of instruction and learning. TIA establishes a priority emphasis on the Instruction (Domain 2) and Learning Environment (Domain 3) domains of the T-TESS evaluation. To be eligible for a TIA-designation, teachers must earn a rating of proficient or higher on each of the eight dimensions measured across Domains 2 and 3. Additionally the local designation plan does not allow a teacher to have a rating below proficient on any domain to be eligible for a designation.
Brownsboro ISD will utilize a variety of Student Growth Measures to determine student growth.
SLO's: Fine Arts, Theater, Art, Band
STAAR Growth: 4-8 Reading, Math, Alg, Eng I&II
Pre/Post STAAR: 5th, 8th Sci, Bio, 8th SS, US History
Pre/Post for all other subjects using a variety of assessments including but not limited to IXL, Fitnessgram, ICEV, Unique and District created
Who is eligible to participate in the Teacher Incentive Allotment?
To be eligible to participate in Teacher Incentive Allotment, teachers must be coded as 087 (Teacher) per PEIMS. The teacher must meet the PEIMS description codes for 90 days of employment at 100% of the day (equivalent to four and one-half months or a full semester) or 180 days of employment required at 50-99% of the day and compensated for that employment.
Is a teacher’s designation tied to a particular level or content area?
No, the Masters, Exemplary, Recognized and Acknowledged designations are not tied to a particular grade level or content area
Designations apply to the teacher, not the teaching assignments, so a teacher could earn a designation while teaching out of their field.
For example, if a teacher earns a designation while teaching 9th grade English I and then moves to teach 11th grade US History, that teacher’s designation is still valid for the new assignment.
