The bond proposal was developed by a Facilities Planning Committee whose charge was to study facility needs in the district and make a recommendation to the BISD Board of Trustees based on district needs. The nearly 40-member committee met several times between November 2021 and January 2022 and was made up of a diverse group of parents, staff, community leaders, alumni, and students.
In May 2022, the facilities committee met to provide feedback and insight as well as feedback was gathered from the community through a bond survey.
As a result of this feedback and the priority needs that were identified, the BISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved an order to call for a $24 million bond election that will go before voters on November 8, 2022.
