Auditions for our Theatre Productions class typically will take place during the end of the school year in the month of May dependent on the high school's UIL One-Act Play schedule. Be sure to keep an eye out here, ParentSquare, flyers posted around campus, and on Brownsboro Bear Theatrix social media for all official dates as the time approaches!
For students interested in acting, we hold a "Cold Read" style of auditioning in which students will be randomly paired into groups, provided sides (aka small scenes) and roles, and given time to read and rehearse with their groups before performing in front of the directors. Students will be given as many sides as our audition day time will allot to ensure many opportunities to showcase their talent! All that is required to bring to auditions is your completed audition packet, an open mind, and a readiness to have fun! Packets are located in BJH, BIS, and CIS front offices. Students interested in being a tech in the Theatre Productions class do not need to attend the acting auditions.
As much as we would love to have everyone involved, please note the audition does not guarantee a position in the Productions class. Audition results will be posted here under "2026-2027 Class".
Most rehearsals will take place in the Theatre Productions class period during the school day. However, if admitted into the class, all shows and productions will require MANDATORY after school and occasional Saturday rehearsals closer to the UIL competition date starting in late November for OAP and closer to performance dates in early/mid April for Spring Show. These rehearsals are a vital part of the production process and MUST be attended unless your student is involved in another school-sanctioned event. Failure to attend rehearsals without a proper excuse will result in removal from the team.
Just like any other extra-curricular, this commitment is very important!
