Get Goating! is a youth agriculture program centered on hands-on learning, responsible livestock care, and practical experience with dairy goats.
Members work with project goats while learning the skills needed to care for animals well and participate confidently in fairs and livestock events. They practice health checks, handling, showmanship, record-keeping, hoof care, breeding management, and other real-world skills that come with raising and working with dairy goats. Lessons are grounded in science-based agricultural education and taught in a supportive, age-appropriate environment that emphasizes responsibility, observation, and ethical animal stewardship.
The program is designed to help youth build confidence in the barn and beyond it. Through real work, guided practice, and mentorship, members learn how good animal care, good sportsmanship, thoughtful decision-making, and teamwork all fit together.
Get Goating! helps prepare the next generation of agricultural leaders by giving young people meaningful experience with livestock, a stronger understanding of agriculture, and the skills to care for animals responsibly and represent agriculture with knowledge and pride.
