The UGRSKINTECH Summer School offers an intensive, hands-on training experience in Histology, Tissue Engineering, and ATMPs.
Hosted at the Faculty of Medicine, Universidad de Granada, this program blends cutting-edge lectures, lab workshops, and expert-led discussions, covering key topics such as cell culture, biomaterials, preclinical validation, and regulatory aspects. Participants will engage in practical sessions, visit a GMP facility, and tackle translational challenges, all while networking with top researchers. Beyond the lab, cultural activities in Granada, including a visit to the Alhambra and a flamenco night, provide a rich, immersive experience.

Foundations in Skin Tissue Engineering
Foundations in Skin Tissue Engineering
The first day will feature keynote lectures on the latest advances in skin tissue engineering and ATMP development. Participants will then engage in hands-on workshops, focusing on advanced cell culture, flow cytometry characterization, and hydrogel generation for skin applications.

Experimental Techniques & GMP
Experimental Techniques & GMP
This day will cover biofabrication techniques, histological assessment, and biomechanical and optical properties testing of skin constructs. The afternoon will include an immersive GMP training session on skin ATMP production, followed by a clinical handling and suture workshop.

Regulatory Framework & Translational Challenges
Regulatory Framework & Translational Challenges
The final day will explore regulatory requirements for skin ATMPs, followed by a brainstorming session on preclinical and translational challenges. A short session on ethical concerns in skin research will lead into a workshop on digital design for 3D-printed skin substitutes, concluding with a closing ceremony.

The program kicks off with a welcome dinner at Carmen de la Victoria, offering participants a chance to network in a relaxed setting. The evening will conclude with a guided visit to the Alhambra, experiencing one of Spain’s most iconic landmarks under the night lights.

Flamenco & Andalusian Gastronomy
After an intense day of hands-on training, participants will enjoy an authentic Andalusian dinner at Restaurante La Chumbera, featuring breathtaking views of the Alhambra. The night will be enriched by a live Flamenco performance, immersing attendees in the vibrant culture of Granada.

Closing Ceremony & Free Exploration
The program will conclude with a closing ceremony, including a summary of findings, certificate presentations, and final remarks. Afterward, participants are free to explore Granada at their leisure or begin their journey home.
