Do kids need prior theatre experience to attend?
No prior experience is necessary! The camp is designed for beginners as well as those who have some experience in theatre. We focus on building confidence and skills at all levels.
What should my child bring to camp each day?
Campers should wear comfortable clothing that they can move in, and bring a water bottle to stay hydrated and a sack lunch. If they have a specific role, we may provide additional costume details closer to the performance date.
What is the schedule like each day?
The camp runs from 9 AM to 2 PM each day. Campers will spend their days learning songs, dances, and blocking, as well as participating in fun improv games and activities designed to boost creativity and teamwork. Students will be dropped off at the MVCAC and picked up from the same location, parents are not permitted to stay and watch rehearsals as the space does not allow for it, however there will be constant adult supervisions as well as a 3 to 1 camper to counselor ratio.
Will there be a performance at the end of the week?
Yes! The camp will culminate in two final performances where the campers will showcase everything they’ve learned for family and friends. Each student will get two tickets for both shows, extras may be available. More information will be given closer to the performance date.
How will my child be assigned a role in the show?
Every camper will be assigned a role, and they’ll receive their part and script on July 10th, the first day they meet their team. Roles will be emailed to you on July 9th.
Can my child attend both camps if they’re interested in more than one show?
Absolutely! If your child is interested in both camps, they’re audition video should include them singing two songs, one from Frozen and one from The Lion King. They will receive a role in both shows.
Do you provide lunch or snacks?
Campers should bring their own lunch and snacks. We encourage healthy snacks and enough food to keep your child energized for the day!
What happens if my child misses a day of camp?
While attendance is important to keep up with rehearsals, we understand that life happens! Please let us know in advance if your child will miss a day, and we will help them catch up.
Will there be adult supervision?
Yes! Beyond are youth counselors who range in age from 16-18, and we will have constant on-site adult supervision. Courtnei Milonas is a Tahoma Performing Arts Booster member as well as an elementary school teacher with the Auburn School District.
