Research Design
Developed methodologies to analyze sentence structure and word choice on headlines reporting Rebecca Cheptegei’s femicide case on Instagram.
Built a multilingual corpus of 330 headlines from 13 languages and created a Qualtrics survey for 20 participants to examine public perceptions of reporting language.
Data Collection and Analysis
Leveraged ChatGPT's image-to-text functionality to extract Instagram headlines related to the femicide case of Rebecca Cheptegei for analysis.
Utilized Tableau to create interactive visualizations, showcasing patterns in sentence structure and word choice in Instagram headlines.
Report Writing and Communication
Compiled findings into a report for potential peer-reviewed journal publication utilizing Zotero for efficient reference management and precise citation formatting.
Project Management
Adhered to ethical standards by completing CITI training and maintained data integrity through robust tools and expert collaboration.
Research Outcome
The results highlight how media language shapes societal urgency around femicide, emphasizing the need for active voice and non-romanticized language that holds perpetrators accountable.

Research Design
Developed methodologies, including a new corpus and techno-biographical interviews, to study language preference patterns among Tanzanian Instagram users.
Data Collection and Analysis
Built a corpus of 400 Instagram posts from 40 Tanzanian users and conducted 5 interviews to explore factors influencing language choice.
Report Writing and Communication
Submitted a thesis to ProQuest and prepared a manuscript to the Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication, using Zotero for efficient reference management and citation formatting.
Presented research at the African Language Teacher Association (ALTA) Conference.
Research Outcome
The findings highlighted the link between language and content collocation, guiding the use of appropriate language for social, economic, or cultural communication in multilingual communities.
