About the Workplace
Somewhat large classes, hogwon style books, freedom to teach how you'd like.
6 day camp twice a year. No extra pay. Off before lunch. It doesn't affect the 9 weeks of vacation time.
22 teaching hours
4 hours of 'Morning English' You just go in the room and talk with the kids if they want.
The book you gotta get through is there and the books have pre-made PPTs that you can use fully or adapt.
30 students was the maximum but class sizes are moving around a bit next semester so I'm not sure.
edit: the activity classes are whatever you wanna do really. You don't need to teach but just have fun with the class: sports, arts & crafts, music, etc.
Opinion of Workplace
nice place to work. Not a ton of busy work and great vacation. Kids are more or less nice to teach.
This is a legit and good private elementary school in Daegu! Being a private elementary school they offer better time off with 5 weeks, (not counting weekends) it’s 45 weekdays off, which a more generous than the 26 weekdays off that EPIK teachers get!
The starting pay 2.7 is also ₩100,000 more per month than the top EpIK salary of 2.6. Also, the ₩500,000 is the same housing support that EPIK teachers get.
The re-siging a contract bonus for first time re-resigning teachers is also same as epik at 1.3... Although EPIK teachers also get a contract completion bonus f 700,000 when completing the second contract I believe for a total off 2.0 mill every time they re-sign from 2nd year onwards…
