Fine Arts

Music Program

Wolfville School’s music program, which starts in primary, includes an introduction to music, rhythm instruments and choir. In grade six, students take an introductory band program which is very popular. In grades seven and eight, students may choose to continue with band as an elective course. At this level, students have the additional option of performing in a percussion ensemble and/or a jazz band.

Art

All students in grades P-6 experience visual arts integrated into all curriculum areas, which allows students to apply learning and make connections between subjects. In grades 7 and 8, visual art class is one of two options for a fine arts course. A variety of fine arts exploratories are offered to middle school students as well. Special art programs and projects are offered school wide or for specific grade levels to enrich art-related experiences. Student artwork is displayed prominently throughout the school.

Drama/Theatre

Live musical theatre productions are a tradition at Wolfville School and we are fortunate to have stage and gymnasium facilities that accommodate fabulous performances!

In the recent past we have had the opportunity to produce a musical show every year; alternating between the elementary (students in grades 4, 5 and 6) and the junior high (students in grades 7, 8 and 9). Student actors audition for roles, learn their lines, songs, dances and stage directions before performing for their school mates and the community. Students are also responsible for the technical aspects of the production; stage management, lighting, sound, props and backstage operations.

These productions are offered as an extra-curricular activity and are made possible through the tremendous support of parents, teachers and community volunteers. Being part of a musical production, whether in cast or crew, is always an enjoyable learning experience for those who participate!
