Welcome to Science 9!
This is a full year course. It builds on units studied in previous years, and is intended to prepare you for success moving forward. The goal of science education in Nova Scotia is to develop scientific literacy. Scientific literacy is an evolving combination of the science-related attitudes, skills, and knowledge students need to develop inquiry, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities; to become life-long learners; and to maintain a sense of wonder about the world around them. To develop scientific literacy, students require diverse learning experiences that provide opportunities to explore, analyze, evaluate, synthesize, appreciate, and understand the interrelationships among science, technology, society, and the environment.
Topics explored in this course include:
CHEMISTRY - Atoms and Elements (25%) - Physical and Chemical Changes, Atomic Theory, Periodic Table
