Several visual strategies were provided in the recent flyers. Remember to provide rewards by using the ‘to do card’, ‘first/then’ or ‘token board’. These tools can be cut out from the flyer and made stronger by covering them with a clear plastic sleeve, a ziploc bag or clear packing tape!
Use the mini schedule provided to wash hands with increasing independence. Point to the visual steps and/or written words to support (limit your talking). Decrease pointing as each step is completed with more independence.
Turn on tap.
Put soap on hands.
Make a lather (bubbles).
Scrub hands. Sing your favourite song.
Rinse soap off hands.
Turn off tap.
Dry hands.
Celebrate! You did it!
Break the activity/routine down into steps.
Draw/write each step in the boxes. *See hand washing routine as an example.
Place the schedule where it will be used most (e.g. put hand washing mini schedule above the sink).
Celebrate each accomplished step.

Follow the recipe to make salt dough. If it doesn’t turn out, consider it playdough/slime!
What you need:
1 cup flour, 1/2 cup salt, 1/2 cup water

Steps:
Measure ingredients
Add ingredients to bowl
Stir with spoon
Knead with hands
Optional: add in fun things (washable paint, sparkles, buttons). Store in a plastic bag or container. Knead it to relieve stress. Roll it, shape it for fun. Leave it out to dry to keep its shape. Add it to your time capsule. Do NOT eat Salt Dough!

Communicate your feelings. Use the blank face to draw how you are feeling, fill with a color that matches how you feel, or point to the emoji that best matches your feeling.
Consider building Feelings Check-In into your daily routine.
Create your own Feeling Faces chart.
Identify ways you can manage the feelings of each emotion (e.g. take 5 deep breaths, go for a walk, take a break).
Name or draw additional emotions.
Help Card - continue to practice your Help Card and add your address. Create a statement to share with an unknown adult, in case of an emergency, to let them know you need help (e.g. My name is … I have … and I need help.).
Read or listen to a story.
Time Capsule - continue to add to your time capsule (e.g. any flyer activities, pictures you’ve drawn, recipes of your favourite meals).
Community Walk - read safety signs, identify letters or words you can find, ask for or give directions.
Time - match day and night to different activities and routines in your day, follow and/or create a schedule, read time on different clocks.
Money - use money (real or play) to match, show amounts, and pretend to purchase (e.g items around home, in the flyers, take out menus).
Data Collection - keep a tally of daily weather, create a survey and take a vote (e.g. favorite meal, song, show).
Sort/Categorize - laundry (e.g. by colour), grocery list (e.g. by vegetables, dairy, meats), toys (e.g. by blocks, stuffies, cars), recycling.
Compare and Order Numbers - grocery flyer items (e.g. more or less), birthday wish list (e.g. items by price), your cool collections.
Skip Count (by 2s, 5s, or 10s) - items around your home (e.g. socks, shoes, etc.) or cool items spotted when walking in your neighborhood.
Measurement - follow a recipe, compare lengths of building blocks, use a map to measure how far you walk.
