Welcome to the beginning of the school year!
You may have a new class with bright new faces and personalities to learn; or some familiar students to work with this year.
It is important at the beginning of the year for students to learn about themselves, and this allows you to get to know them a little better too!
As a former teacher, I know how drastically students can change each year — mentally, socially and emotionally. For some students, the core of who they are has not changed, yet for others, they may feel like a totally new person.
Providing students with an opportunity at the beginning of each school year to ask the guiding question ‘Who Am I?’ allows them to potentially discover something new about themselves, and reflect on how they have grown.
A great way to prompt students to start reflecting on this question is to have your class complete our appropriately named ‘Who Am I’ assessments.
The myBlueprint ‘Who Am I’ assessments consist of 5 user-friendly, age appropriate surveys that students can complete to find out more about their Learning Styles, Personality, Interests, Knowledge, and Motivations.
Looking for an easy way to integrate this into the classroom?
We have a different lesson plan for each assessment waiting for you within our Support Centre.
These assessments talk to each other, strengthening a student’s final Match Results as they complete each survey.
Every time they complete an assessment, a report is generated that details the results, what they mean, and related strategies your students can incorporate into their daily lives, i.e. Study Tips within the Learning Styles report.
Once a student completes an assessment, they can add their date stamped results to a portfolio.
Pro Tip*** Have your students redo their ‘Who Am I’ assessments each year.
As they add their results to a portfolio, they can reflect on their growth from year to year.
Reflecting on their experience will allow students to think about what these results mean to them, and how it may affect their future aspirations.

Explore New Opportunities
The surveys provide reports after each assessment. Having students dive deeper into their personality types, how they are motivated, etc. will prompt them to ask questions about what those results mean for potential occupations or pathways of interest, which might ultimately lead to further exploration within myBlueprint, and beyond.
Pro Tip*** After your students have completed the Motivations assessment, have them complete Compatibility surveys for 5–10 occupations of interest within the Match Results tab. Use the Compatibility lesson plan for inspiration.
Empower Students
Students should be proud of who they are! Self-discovery and reflection is a lifelong process and students change constantly. It’s important that they embrace these changes positively.
Informed Decision Making
Planning for future career and post-secondary choices becomes easier when they are more informed about who they are and what matters to them.
