EBSCOhost is a research platform which provides access to high quality databases, with reliable content for researchers of all ages. You can access EBSCOhost at school, or at home, from the GNSPES launch page. When you log in, you'll see the link under the Learning Resources tab.
When you log in to EBSCO, you'll need to choose the interface that you want to search.
Perhaps the most useful for junior high research is Explora Canada. This interface is designed with students in mind and offers many features to help you find information that is relevant to your topic and grade level. Check out this video tutorial for more information about Explora.
The Canadian Points of View Reference Center can be a really useful resource if you are working on a debate, or for any project where you have to argue one side, or understand both sides, of an argument. The database includes a wide range of controversial or "in the news" topics, and each topic includes an overview as well as opposing viewpoints, supported by thousands of articles and other resources.
Note: You might also want to check out ProCon.org... a free to use database which provides links to articles from newspapers, magazines, and other popular literature, discussing the pros and cons of controversial issues.
