OPTIONS & OPPORTUNITIES (02) PROGRAM

A three year career exploration program

O2 is an exciting high school program that is designed to prepare students for successful transitions from high school to a career path or a post-secondary program.

Park View is one of 70 schools in Nova Scotia that offers an Options & Opportunities (02) program. O2 is an academic program that offers students a unique experience during their high school years. The focus of 02 is to help support students in making informed decisions about post-secondary education and careers they wish to pursue after high school.

Students take two specialized 02 courses in grade 10 (Career Development and Community-Based Learning) which involve class trips, guest speakers and other community-based learning experiences, all providing opportunities to explore various career paths and post-secondary opportunities. University options, programs at various colleges as well as skilled trades/apprenticeship are explored. 02 students complete three - 80 hour co-op work placements in the community during grade 11 - 12. Upon graduation, students who successfully complete 02 will earn their grade 12 diploma, a specialized 02 provincial certificate and a guaranteed seat at NSCC in the program of their choice.

02 is a great resume builder as students work on developing skills and acquiring hands - on experience. This program may help to set students apart from others as they apply for post-secondary education with competitive programs, scholarships and bursaries.
