NPower Canada is a national employment program that provides participants with free in-demand digital and professional skills training, and connects them to new and rewarding career opportunities with some of Canada’s largest employers.
Nova Scotia Works Employment Services Centres provide personalized support as you step out of high school into a meaningful career pathway.
Our experienced Career Practitioners get to know you, your situation, strengths and challenges. Together, you design a plan that would lead to employment. Your plan could include participating in one of the programs on this page, attending workshops, building skills or further exploring careers, for example.
We have over 50 service centers across the province. There is no cost for this service and we'll stick with you through your goals.

The program generally starts each January.
It is a bursary to provide individuals from underrepresented and underserved communities with opportunities to receive certifications, training or the equipment needed to gain employment in the clean energy sector. The bursary should be used to fund the final piece in an individual's employment journey and can be used for participation in existing training programs put on by educational institutions (i.e., NSCC), specialized training centres (i.e., Safety Services Nova Scotia), or other reputable organizations (subject to approval).

Employment Support Programs through Valley Community Learning Association
The Ability Works program supports adults living with disabilities to help them prepare for, obtain and keep employment or to become self-employed.
The Youth Employment Skills Strategy program serves youth between the ages of 15 and 30 years old who are facing multiple barriers to employment.
The Cornerstone program is designed to provide relevant certification and training for entry-level work in health care and disability support. This program requires a 12-week commitment. Upon completion, participants will leave with the 7 core competencies required by many care institutions.
To participate in this training program, students must secure a clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check. PLEASE NOTE: Grade 12 or GED is not a pre-requisite for this training program; however, it may be for some workplaces.
Lifestreams is a progressive, 12-week program with personal development, teamwork, self-exploration and values clarification at its core. It provides a foundation for career exploration and employment readiness. Early sessions look at your existing skills and goals and over time we help you work towards opportunities that will enhance your life and employment.
All micro credentials currently offered at NSCC are tuition free because they are part of Quick Train Canada, a fully-funded training program to provide workers with new skills needed to support a clean economy. They're powered by Canadian Colleges for a Resilient Recovery (C2R2) and funded by the Government of Canada’s Sectoral Workforce Solutions Program.
As a 17 to 21 year old student in Achieve, you make choices to prepare yourself for life after high school by focusing on being well, taking part in your community and linking your interests to future learning and career options. This is a one year program offered at the NSCC Annapolis Valley campus in Middleton and starts in September. Students apply through NSCC to attend. There is no cost.
Autism Nova Scotia offers General Employment Support in the Annapolis Valley which seeks to connect working-age adolescents and adults on the autism spectrum to community-based supports based on their individual wants, needs, and goals in relation to employment.
The Employment & Wellness Support Group is an online, conversational support group led by an autistic facilitator. The group meets weekly online to discuss employment-related topics such as maintaining a healthy work-life balance, accommodations at work, disclosing autism, and more.
