Class Expectations

Each student is expected to arrive on time to class each day with all materials necessary for learning. Please note that using the student agenda as an organizational tool is an important key to success, and that all homework and important dates should be recorded each day.

Regular homework should be expected as a continuation of the day’s learning. Please email me with any homework questions you may have throughout the year.

Students are encouraged to take advantage of extra help to assist in improvement of skills and solidification of concepts, and to stay on top of their work. Support is always available by appointment, however it is the student’s responsibility to arrange a time with me.

Students are responsible for any missed work due to absence. During a student's absence, it may be a good idea to have another student take missed work home, or work can be left in the office by request.

Assessment

Assessment and feedback is timely and ongoing in order to ensure the most effective learning. The focus is on the student's strengths and areas to improve.

Formative Assessment – throughout the unit of study

Summative – at the end of the unit of study

Anecdotal – Teacher observations

Grades on a report card should never be a surprise! To follow your child's progress, click on the “Outcomes Grades” tab in PowerSchool. On this page, there is a 1 to 4 score for each outcome that has been assessed. Please note that missing assignments may affect the final percentage/grade on the report card.
