Technology Integration

September 2019, I started a new personal goal to challenge myself to learn more about technology and how to incorporate it effectively in lower elementary classrooms. This goal will be achieved by completing my masters in technology at Mount Saint Vincent University. Follow along as I become the student, and the new experiences I will be bringing into our grade 1-2 classroom!

Communication

I am beginning to evolve my main forms of communication between home and school. Twitter and a class website are new additions that I am using increasingly more. Stay tuned in to see first hand some of our adventures and creations we do as a class throughout the school day.

Email

As always, parents are able to communicate with me through email. My email address' are pamela.caines@hrce.ca and pamela.caines@gnspes.ca

Exploration

As a class, we will be exploring and trying a variety of programs and apps as a means to represent our learning in different ways. This could be through student tools, game based learning, projects, or assessment.

Some of the programs that will be new for both the students and myself as Plickers, and Doink. Plickers is an assessment tool that can be used to quickly assess the students learning by scanning the students individual URL codes to see their answers.

Doink is a app used for making green screen projects. Our class is going to be creating stories and then bring them to life through the use of the green screen.

GNSPES

Our students have all be given student email addresses which are also their usernames, and passwords to log into Chromebooks. Once they are logged in, they will have access to GNSPES. Currently they are not apart of a Google classroom but this is something I will be looking into for the future. However; they do have access to students email, Docs, Slides, Peardeck, and much more!
