Hi! Welcome to my teaching website! My name is Rebecca Roberts and I currently teach Grade 6 at Dr. W. A. MacLeod in Riverton, NS. Here you will learn more about my life as an educator, as well as important links to teaching resources and information.
I became a teacher, after many years in social services, as I wanted to work with children hands-on and share with them my love of learning. Teaching has granted me the opportunity to help children achieve their best, while having fun doing it. I couldn’t ask for a better career.
My teaching experiences have ranged from Grade Primary through to Grade 8. During the last few years, my teaching assignments have mainly focused on 6, which I have enjoyed. Being in the same grade has allowed me to delve further into the curriculum and provide my students with more authentic experiences.
I grew up in Pictou County, Nova Scotia and graduated from Trenton High School. After high school, I attended Mount Allison University in New Brunswick and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. From there, after a few detours around the world, I attended the University of Maine and received my Bachelor of Education degree. Learning has always been a passion of mine and therefore I continue to take courses to further my skills as an educator. Currently, I am working on my Master's of Inclusive Education through Acadia University.
I love the ocean and swimming! In the summer you can normally find me relaxing by the pool or at the beach with a good book. Nature is also something I enjoy and my house is surrounded by trees and wildlife. Other interests include my animals, music, art, dance and theatre.
I am an avid traveller and have been to a lot of interesting places, including Korea, Thailand, Mexico and Bermuda. I enjoy learning about new cultures and sharing experiences with my students. My dream vacation would be going on a safari in Africa.
