Ms. Powell's grade 1/ 2 classroom

Hello and Welcome All, 

I am very excited to start my journey at Rockingham School. I have been teaching for 13 years and have done most of my teaching in Halifax and Dartmouth. I am a firm believer that all children can thrive and be the best they can be. We as educators need to find who they are so they can blossom in their own ways. My goal each year is to find what motivates your child and work with that in addition to making your child feel safe and part of the classroom family so they can take chances in their learning. The children will work independently, in small groups and as a whole group to really grasp the concept of what I am teaching. I will be assessing your children via conversations, independent work and group work at various times throughout each term. This lets me see where they are as learners and where I need to go to make sure they blossom in their learning. 

Families, you are encouraged to communicate with me via email at powells@hrce.ca If you have a concern about something in the class or just need to chat about your child, I am here to help you. I check my email before and after school, but typically do not respond until after dismissal.
