Through song, activities, written work, games, use of classroom instruments, students begin to read, create and present songs using more complex music notation. Also, our music literacy skills start to progress with the reading of songs we are learning in class. Up until Grade Three students have been learning classroom music by rote, but now their music literacy begins to expand to a point they can start reading music from standard notation.

At this age, students begin to learn a specific instrument as a class, learning the skills, techniques and learning new songs on the instrument during our music classes. During the 2019-2020 school year, students will experience learning beginning ukulele.
